Building Children's Nursing Conference
The biennial Building Children's Nursing for Africa (BCN) conference, hosted by the Child Nurse Practice Development Initiative, in collaboration with Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, is a participative conference for nurses who work with children, newborn to adolescents, and their families, to consider and celebrate their contribution to excellence in care.

This conference stands as a clear example of the Initiative's ongoing dedication to the goal of Building strong and sustainable system capacity, in particular through the establishment of a dynamic community of child health nursing leaders, educators, researchers and practitioners across Africa.
The inaugural conference (2013)
The inaugural conference was held in April 2013 and embraced the theme of 'I'm not just a nurse'. It was a very successful first conference, a short summary of which can be read here.
